Can Leah create custom artwork for me?
Leah specializes in licensing her artwork and surface patterns to brands and fellow artists in collaboration with creating products. She also occasionally takes on custom work to create lines of products or a special edition product or for brand/artist identity. She unfortunately cannot accommodate commissions for individuals for single use (ie. invitations, art prints, etc.).
I would like to return or exchange my item, or I need a refund. What do I do?
We will happily return or exchange your item within 7 days. The product must be returned in its original condition and you are responsible for shipping costs. Please email us for the correct shipping address to return your product and to let us know it is on the way.
Can I get a refund/exchange from you for fabric, wallpaper, stationery, ties, or any of your collaborations?
No, Leah only licenses her art for these products and does not sell or manufacture them. You will need to contact the shop you purchased your item from or the brand/manufacturer for any refunds or exchanges.
Where can I buy Leah's fabric?
Visit the Cloud9 Fabrics website where you will find their store locator. Select the fabric collection you are looking for from the drop down menu to find a quilting fabric shop near you.
Where are you located?
We are located in Asheville, North Carolina and work from Leah's home studio.
Can I meet Leah?
Leah occasionally does shows and events where she would love to meet you. Check her social media profiles and our news section for any upcoming events.
Does Leah collaborate with fellow artists?
Yes, she loves collaborating with fellow artists! It's not always possible due to time constraints but she would love to hear your ideas. Shoot us an email.
Can I license Leah's artwork?
Yes, please do! Leah has licensed her art and surface patterns on everything from stationery to fabric to bedding to wallpaper. Let's chat about possibilities. Reach out with further information about your project and we'll go from there.
How do I become a professional commercial artist?
Good question! Leah started a long time (15 years ago) when things were very different. Those first years she was featured on the front page of Etsy nearly everyday with a successful shop, exhibited at Surtex Art Licensing show where she landed her first licensing deals, and worked very, very hard. She considers herself lucky, but also attributes her success to being resilient, flexible, determined, and hard working. Her advice to artists is to find the people who love your work (because not everyone will) and keep showing up every single day, even in the face of rejection and failure.
Where are your products produced?
Art prints are produced in-house or with a local screen printer or risograph printer. All other products are produced ethically with the highest consideration to environmental impact and ethical production. See each individual product listing for exact locations and process.
Who are your manufacturers?
You can find many of Leah's production partners in the descriptions of her products. We strive to produce all goods in our shop ethically and with environmental impact in mind. We do not have any information on manufacturers for her collaborations, where she licenses the artwork only and does not produce the goods.
Are your products ethically produced?
Yes, all goods in Leah's shop are ethically produced with many using environmentally friendly ink and content. We do not have information on goods produced with Leah's licensed artwork and would guess maybe 50% of her collaborations are produced ethically.
How do I become a fabric designer?
Leah recommends doing a commercial art licensing show or visiting quilt market with your portfolio once you have established a solid collection of surface patterns and textile designs with a strong voice. If this is too expensive many fabric representatives also have ways to submit your portfolio for consideration.
Is Asheville OK after Hurricane Helene?
Areas around the river are still in bad shape a year later. Most of Asheville is fine and open a year later, including all of the downtown area. Asheville artists and businesses need you to visit and are ready for you, so please come see us! Smaller towns outside of Asheville, including Marshall and Swannanoa still need a lot of help but are moving forward each day.
Were you impacted by Hurricane Helene?
Everyone in our area was in some way or another. Even those who were minimally impacted were left with a permanent mark emotionally and were physically impacted with no power and water for months. Leah's partner's place of employment was literally washed away and their finished basement was flooded. Despite this, like everyone else in Asheville, we are moving forward and consider ourselves lucky given what others in our area went through. Orders, manufacturing, shipping, design, and general art making have officially resumed.
